Saturday saw Seaford 4s play their first home game of the season against Glynde 3s.

On winning the toss Glynde's Skipper opted to bowl first. Seaford’s opening pair of Martin Edmonds (24) and Colin Goddard (9) where kept reasonably quiet by the Glynde youngsters T Pedley (1 for 44) and J Randall (0 for 17) both bowling tightly. A couple of early wickets brought the in-form pair Richard Cummins (34) and free hitting Justin Squires (34) to the crease. The score pushed on until Squires was eventually trapped LBW by P Crompton (5 for 51) bringing George Hayden (48) into the fray. George returning after a couple of years away quickly set about his work not looking at all like a man who had played no cricket for a couple of years. With booming drives and loud calling George did his best to shepherd the tail including debutant Caitlin Flower to a respectable total. Seaford eventually being bowled out off the last ball of the innings for 201.

Reluctantly leaving the usual high quality Seaford tea the 4s guys looked to make inroads into the strong Glynde batting order, but as many sides in this league have discovered removing opener Lee Cramp(131*) is no easy task.

Skipper Steve Hearsey (1 for 30) claiming the only wicket of the innings as Cramp and S Brandford (33*) saw Glynde Home in the 34th over.

The Seaford guys will take some positives from the game in another good batting performance and with 2 players returning after not playing for several years and a debut for Caitlin, the 10 players of the 4s pushed a very strong Glynde side hard.
