Dear Members,
I’m delighted to announce that cricket is about to return to Seaford Cricket Club. It has been an extremely long wait and I’m sure it will come as a tremendous lift to many!
The enthusiasm shown, even for training over the last few weeks has been fantastic and very heartening to see. Long may it continue as we take the next big step.
I want to just take this opportunity to reiterate to all club members that we are still only at Step 4 of the ECB Roadmap for the Return of Recreational Cricket, therefore this period will not feel completely like ‘cricket-as-normal’.
The club have had to take a number of steps and put in a lot of hardwork behind the scenes to develop new procedures and policies which explain how cricket will run differently from normal and importantly, safely during this period. Please can all members ensure that they read the attached COVID-19 Matchday & Training Policy very carefully.
The Key points of which are;
🦠 If you or anyone in your household is displaying symptoms of COVID-19 you should not attend a club event. You should remain at home and self-isolate in accordance with UK Government guidance.
📱 All booking & attendance at training & matches must be made & confirmed using Spond.
📍 All players when they arrive to the ground for both training & matches are asked to leave their kit in the designated areas. For matches; new Home Team & Away Team areas will be marked out as the Changing Rooms are not in use.
🚗 Travelling to or from training and matches must be in accordance with UK government guidelines.
👕 With no Changing Rooms available, players must arrive changed and ready to play for all training & matches
🥪 There will be no teas or food provided at any matches this summer. You must bring your own refreshments and not share these outside your household group.
🏏 There are a new set of playing guidelines for on-field. These are included in our own Matchday & Training Policy but can also be viewed at https://resources.ecb.co.uk/ecb/document/2020/07/09/f20adb12-c1d2-4cdc-b2e3-80b0c7873fe4/ECB_return_to_cricket_plan_for_step_4_July_2020.pdf - Hygiene & Social distancing are now key during the game!
🏏 Useful Playing guidance infographics are available here
👨👩👦 Parents & Spectators are reminded that they must remain socially distanced from all cricket activity. A game of cricket or training session under government law is viewed as a gathering and therefore must include no more than 30 people.
🏠 The clubhouse will strictly only be available for use of the toilets and filling-up water bottles during matches & training.
🆓 There are clear new Clubhouse rules - in particular queuing systems and a one-way system. This is all clearly sign-posted around the clubhouse and referred to in the policy.
🍺 The Bar will not be open during any cricket activity, and will only open after that activity has concluded. There are a specific set of new rules around the Bar as well.
📱🤳 All Players, Members, Parents & Visitors that stay socially after a match or training to use the club, including the Bar have to sign-in. This can be done by scanning the QR code on any of the signs you see around the clubhouse & complete the short form. One person can do this on behalf of their entire household. There is also a weblink https://forms.gle/XYLovVBGv9U5ZRwF9 where this form can be accessed from.
I appreciate there is a lot to take in and some of these new rules will feel quite different from normal, however they are designed to keep everyone within the club & visiting our club safe, whilst participating in cricket activity this summer.
The club has also developed; COVID-19 Risk Assessment, Clubhouse Layout Plan & Clubhouse Operation Plan for Club Officials, which all ensure that we comply with Government legislation and have taken every step as advised by our governing body. These documents are all viewable at seafordcc.co.uk/policies under the COVID-19 Folder.
Please remember to stay safe and all the best to those playing this weekend and beyond!
