U11s Push Crowhurst Park U11s All The Way

Sunday 1st July saw Crowhurst Park visit The Salts to play against the Seaford Under 11 Softball Cricket team. The sun was shining and the supporters were in full force but unfortunately it was Crowhurst Park who ended up winners in what was a relatively tight match.

Captain for the day Blake won the toss and elected to field first. Two tight first overs by Henry and Elliot meant Crowhurst only had three runs on the board at that point but they soon found another gear and started exploiting what was actually some very good bowling by the Seaford team. As the team continued to put into practice their line and length deliveries, some of these were dispatched to the boundary by the Crowhurst team, but the Seaford bowlers must not be despondent about this. They rallied around, encouraged each other and it was really promising to see such a fine team ethic amongst them. Elliot picked up the first wicket clean bowled and Blake and Finley also picked up wickets in similar fashion. Sammy picked up the fourth wicket thanks to a sublime catch by Adam. Finley, Blake and Adam were the standout bowlers today showing a marked improvement since the start of the season keeping their delivers in the right place each time, and they should be commended for this. A few dropped catches didn't help the cause though as Crowhurst finished on 299 minus their four wickets lost equals 279.

In reply, Seaford started slowly. An early boundary by Finley showed promise but some tricky bowling meant it was hard to keep the runs coming. Frankie toiled away and was unlucky not to score more but some lusty blows by Adam (15) was a real highlight of the innings. Some miscommunication between Ruby and Blake led to a run out which undid a fine boundary by Ruby and by the time Henry and Elliot came to the crease, it was a real upward battle. A couple of quick singles by Elliot and five big boundaries by Henry (20) kept the score respectable as Seaford closed on 291 but for their seven lost wickets meant their finial score was 256.

Next week sees a training game for the Under 11's followed by two remaining games left to play, away at Firle and home to Bexhill to see if they can get a win under their belts before the end of the season.
