Seaford 2s continued there positive start to the season with a resounding victory over visitors Hailsham 2s, on winning the toss Seaford had no hesitation in giving the visitors first dig on a glorious summers day at The Salts. After a few early boundaries whilst Seaford’s openers found their lines the wickets started to fall. Tim "Turbo" Goddard sending the top four batsmen back to the pavilion in convincing fashion. The Seaford change bowlers Maxwell Wright, Mitch Ellingham, Deiniol Cummins and Jon Pitts, with a wicket a piece, then continued the steady stream of wickets to get Hailsham nine down. The last pair showed some gutsy resistance to the spin twins Cummins and Wright before Turbo came back on to get his sixth wicket to end with fine figures of 6-23. Some excellent fielding, both ground and catching, backed the bowlers up and kept the pressure on Hailsham’s batsmen throughout their innings. Seaford’s opening pair, with the ideal mix of youth and experience of Ben Brown and Jonty Reynolds had a watchful start against a challenging bowling attack. Once settled though Brown celebrated his 21st birthday in fine style with an innings full of thumping boundaries and a sprinkling of imperious sixes in his 67*. Reynolds starting to look in prime form with some quality drives in his 26*. This saw Seaford reach the victory target in the 21st over. A thumping victory for Seaford, full of positive intent to take into their next game at Bexhill 3s, where Seaford will aim to maintain the excellent start to their season.
