On a glorious summers day down the Salts Seaford 2s started their season with real a positive performance full of intent and quality bowling. On winning the toss Seaford put Linden Park to have first dig, from the off Seaford opening bowlers Jamie Goddard and Ben Page gave the openers nothing loose to take advantage of with a wicket a piece early doors. Jamie Goddard going at less than a run an over with an exhibition of bowling the right line really frustrating the top order. Once the change bowlers come on a steady stream of wickets followed, veteran Jolly Joh Smith with 2 wickets, Mitch Ellingham with 3 wickets, showed fine control to force the loose shots. When Deiniol Cummins came on with his pacey leg spin this really did accelerate the end of the innings with 3-9 in 8 overs. Behind the stumps on his 2nd team debut was Oscar Weisz with 3 fine catches to back the bowlers up.

A top score of in the innings of 16 really didn't look like a high enough total to challenge Seaford’s top order. This proved the case with M.O.M Ben Brown 70* starting watchfully then opening up with his full range of expansive drives and pulls to make light work of the run chase to guide Seaford to an 8 wikcet victory with plenty of overs left in the game.

A real good bowling and fielding performance from all today gave Seaford the positive start to the season they have been lacking in recent years. We travel to Rotherfield next week looking to build on this to get out promotion challenge off to the best possible start.
