On a glorious summer's day Seaford came up second best on the day at Heathfield Park. On winning the toss the host's skipper James Bentley chose to bowl first. With a mix of watchful defence and well timed drives Seaford got themselves well placed at 84 for two. Then a minor collapse saw them 117 for 6, all the top order back in the hutch. Some rebuilding from the lower order saw Seaford bat the 48 overs, the top score on the day from skipper Karl Wootten with 39* guiding Seaford to a few extra batting points. A long spell of 16 overs saw Bentlley grab three wickets.
184 never looked enough with a lightning outfield and this proved the case, despite much effort from Seaford's bowlers it just didn't happen on the day. Max Wright was the pick of bowlers with an excellent 10 over spell which got him 1 for 34. Another day a lot more wickets would have come his way. Terry Penfold limped off retired hurt on 34. Get fit soon Penners. A brutal half century from Andy Samuel saw Heathfield home with plenty of overs to spare, a really comforatble win and , well played Heathfield Park.
Seaford were well below par on the day, already thinking of the return game in August and putting up a much improved performance to silence the crowd!!!!!
