Seaford 2s continued their impressive start to the season with a convincing display away at Bexhill Down. Bexhill batting first on a hot muggy day struggled to get the Seaford opening bowlers away. Seaford had to change opening bowlers due to the recovering Ben Harvey not being fit to bowl first up, he did assure us it was a great party!!!!. Ben Page and John Smith did a great job with a wicket a piece, keeping the run scoring to well under two an over. Paul Crittenden came in first wicket down and displayed some sound defence in his 36, but, he became one of six who fell to the impressive off spin of Max Wright, his 15 overs bought him a match defining 6-27 and the hosts all out for 114. Great stuff! Seaford's fielding wasn't quite up to recent weeks level, the fines book filling up nicely.
Seaford opened up with Ben Brown, who continued his impressive early season form with Billy Wootten, on his second team debut. A rapid stand of 74 put Seaford in a strong position to close the game out, Brownn Brown went caught on the boundary trying to add to his six tally for the day. A really authoritve innings full of huge sixes and crafted boundaries put this games outcome beyond any doubt. Jamie Cogdell and Oscar ' Miami' Wiesz blazed several more boundaries to secure Seaford an 8 wicket victory and 30 points, job done.
Great performance keeping the pressure on the opposition from start to finish, all the bowlers, Smith, Page, Mick Spragg, Ollie Harvey, Ben Harvey and Max Wright all bowling very near immaculate lines all the way through the innings to make runs hard to come by.
Seaford look forward to welcoming Buxted Park 2s to The Salts next week, a couple of competitive games last season I am sure will mean Seaford need to continue there early season form in all areas to get the positive result we are aiming for.
