Junior League Cricket 2019

At the recent AGM of the Sussex Cricket Foundation East Area Cricket Association it was decided to make some changes to the way that the Junior Leagues are run. The changes as of 2019 will be:

U10s softball - there will no longer be any individual leagues, all cricket will be played in festivals/tournaments on a Sunday across the summer. The festivals/tournaments will be hosted by Clubs.

U11-U16 hardball - there will be leages at U11, U12s, U13, U14s, U15, U16s & Secondary School Development. The U12, U14 & U16 age groups will be divided into two divisions, one division will be competitive and the other a non-competitive/development focused division. Clubs can decide which division they want to enter.

The League season to end before the summer holidays with 6-8 games per division.

Team, pitch, ball & boundary sizes:

U9s - 6 to 8 aside pairs,15 yards pitch, softball and 30 yard boundary

U10s - 8 aside pairs, 17 yards pitch, softball and 30 to 35 yard boundary

U11s - 10 aside pairs, 18 yards pitch, 43/4 oz hardball and 40 yard boundary

U12s - 11 aside, 19 yards pitch, 5 oz hardball and 40 yard boundary

U13s - 11 aside, 21 yards pitch, 5 oz hardball and 45 yard boundary

U14s - 11 aside 22 yards pitch, 51/2 oz hardball and full size within reason boundary

U15s - 11 aside 22 yards pitch, 51/2 oz hardball and full size boundary

U16s - 11 aside 22 yards pitch, 51/2 oz hardball and full size boundary
