Match report for the Under 11 Softball game:
Sunday saw the Seaford Under 11 Softball team travel to Bexhill searching for their first win of the season. Unfortunately it wasn't to be as Bexhill were far too strong but Seaford's never-say-die attitude was clear and each and every one of the team tried their hardest and showed a real positive outlook.
Bexhill won the toss and elected to bat first and they took a very attacking approach to the Seaford bowlers. Henry conceded just 8 runs from his two overs and a wicket a-piece for Elliott and Sammy who both clean bowled one of the opposition were the pick of the bowlers. Special mention to Finley too who bowled particularly well and straight but it was unfortunate that the Bexhill batsmen liked this despite every delivery being exactly where it should be and he didn't bowl any wides. Bexhill ended on 322 which was always going to be a tough ask.
The Seaford innings started slowly with wickets falling regularly and in total, the Seaford batsmen were out 10 times within their 16 overs. Pick of the batsmen was Elliot who bludgeoned 11 runs but it was unfortunate that no-one else really got going. Adam braved an ankle injury and continued playing (with a runner) to try and help his teammates and Blake was the only Seaford batsmen who didn't get out, but it wasn't to be Seaford's day. With all the wickets that were lost, Seaford's final score was 210.
Lots of lessons were learnt and the whole team enjoyed the game of cricket, which essentially was the winner today. No game next week but Crowhurst Park will be visiting in two weeks time.
