Pett 2s won the toss and had no thought other than inserting their visitors. The decision appeared to be the right one with Steve Faulkner (2-15) and Andy Murphy (2-42) making good use of the new ball on a wicket which was two paced and inconsistent in bounce. At 44-3 Pett were in the ascendancy but Rhys Cummins and Fahad Ahmed (52) came together and soon turned the game around .The pair had put on 120 when a direct hit from in the deep ran out Fahad after he had completed his first 50 for the club. Rhys carried on his innings finally caught in the deep for an excellent 77 in testing conditions.A couple of wickets then fell quickly before last wicket pair of Chris Pope and Haydn Cummins crashed a few boundaries to end the innings on 209 in the final over.
After an excellent tea Seaford knew that they would have to bowl well. After taking a wicket in the first over in the last three matches it was not to be this week but with the first ball of the second over Ben Edmonds removed the dangerous Nick Soan. He then repeated this in his next over to leave the home side in trouble, Ben carried on his spell to end with the excellent figures of 7-4-3-3 making full use of the conditions and showing there will be a lot more to come in the future. Upton (41) tried to take the attack to the bowlers but was well caught by Fahad off Rhys Cummins (2-22) to continue the pair's all round games. The returning Fahad (3-24) and Richard Cummins (2-4) then took the last 5 wickets for 10 runs to bowl Pett out for 113 depriving them of any batting points.
A good team effort, with great energy shown in the field, that takes the 4s another step nearer safety.
