On another gloriously sunny Salts day, that's two this season already, Seaford continued their winning start to the season with an impressive 199 run victory over Hellingly.
Skipper Karl Wootten again lost the toss and Seaford were asked to bat. Jon Reynolds and Rob Gravett set about the opening bowlers from the first over, a mix of quick singles and well timed boundaries across the lighting outfield meant an impressive 132 run opening partnership would set Seaford up for a high total, Gravett (45) fell just short of his half century for the second week on the trot, having his bails disturbed by the F&G of Mark Smith. Youngster Oscar Weisz joined Reynolds and they kept the flow of runs coming. Three wickets fell in quick succession with Weisz (27), Bilesh Jayamanne, for once missing out, and then Reynolds (98) with a classic bit of jug evasion falling just short of his second hundred of the season. It was a cultured innings full of crisply timed drives and pulls. This bought to the wicket the big hitters, with Ben " Early for Once" Page (32) and 3rd team sensation Justin "Safe Hands " Squires (35*). They took the score up to 276 with a little help from Mike 'Team Bus' Spragg (12*). This looked a really challenging total with Seaford having plenty of bowling options to call on.

Seaford's opening bowlers quickly put Hellingly on the back foot with 3 wickets apiece for Jolly John Smith (3/17) and Spragg (3/22), backed up by some impressive slip catching. The bowlers soon had Hellingly 6 down for 39 and no way back from that today as Seaford sniffed the early beer. Page (2/7) then came on and grabbed two scalps with well directed full tosses, two stunning catches from Squires helping Page out. Jayamanne then ran out the last batter to complete this comprehensive victory. All three disciplines were done well today.
Seaford look forward to going to local rivals Dicker next week aiming to carry on the positive start to the season.
