On a blustery seaside day Seaford won the toss and inserted the opposition. Despite the early loss of opening bowler Jon Pitts to injury Seaford kept the visitors under pressure from the beginning, John Smith with another tight spell and youngster Ben Harvey stepping up to the challenge of the new ball superbly, a return of 3 for 24 good work on a lively wicket, and Mick Spragg recapturing his form with some fine swing bowling to claim 5/49. Also great to see. Max Wright chipping in with two wickets from twelve overs. Two catches for keeper Oscar Weisz and two superb outfield catches for Cummins and Spragg meant the innings closed on 159, Seaford feeling that was 20-30 more than they should be chasing. Top score of the innings Billy Hobden with 35, some lusty late order hitting from Westerby and Toomey proving crucial to the result.
Seaford got off to worse possible start losing a wicket in the first over, but, some sound defence from top scorer Jonny Brown (21) kept Nick Tommey at bay for a short while, but, his fine spell tore Seaford's top order apart with 5/32. An impressive spell with the wind from the sea end proving to much for Seaford much changed side, Some late boundaries from Seaford’s lower order delayed the result a little but all in all Seaford’s batting wasn’t up to it on the day. More nets required.
Well played Ceux on the day, Seaford after their first defeat of the season look forward to the return later in the season to exact some revenge on Ceux.
